I’m Emily, a wife, mama, friend, musician, vegetarian, enneagram enthusiast and experimenter in the kitchen. I grew up in northeast Ohio and after high school moved to Lynchburg, Virginia to attend Liberty University. There I met Jon and we got married in December of 2013. We lived in a little house nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains while finishing school and nannying four awesome kiddos. In 2016, we moved to Richmond, Virginia. I was 7 months pregnant at the time! We settled into our neighborhood and have enjoyed exploring all the fun restaurants, museums and parks Richmond has to offer. We have two children. Leo, who was born in the summer heat of August in 2016 and Zara, who was born as the leaves were falling in October of 2018.

After finding out I was pregnant in the fall of 2015, I couldn’t stop researching and reading. I was fascinated with pregnancy, childbirth and the miracle that is the woman’s body. After having fantastic prenatal care with my midwife and an empowering birth of my son, I couldn’t ignore the pressing on my heart. I was being called to birth work; to supporting women in the most beautiful yet vulnerable season of life. I am passionate about advocating for women through that process; from the time she finds out she is pregnant to the much anticipated first glance into her baby’s eyes.

“For birth companions to simply be, to do nothing when nothing is all there to be done, to offer support without judgment, love without conditions — that is perhaps the greatest challenge and the greatest gift.” -Vicki Chan, Midwife
